Children in Need

No, there isn’t a punchline but there is a link. They all helped Belmont to raise £3,606 for Children in Need.

Two weeks of fundraising that included Wii Bowling and remote control car racing, competitions, raffles, cake sales and auctions were finished off with a fancy dress competition that saw staff donning a variety of unusual outfits for themes that included villains, heroes, nuns, historical figures, the emergency services, tube stations and even an appearance of the Care Bears.

Alison Etchells, Director at Belmont, said “we always make a special effort for Children in Need but this year the team have excelled themselves, more than doubling the amount raised in 2008”.

One charity to benefit directly was Hospice of Hope, the leading palliative care charity for South Eastern Europe. A number of cuddly toy animals kindly donated by Keel Toys and sponsored by Belmont Staff, were accepted by Alex Bache on behalf of the charity, to be taken to terminally ill children in Romania.

Alison added “we wouldn’t have been able to raise as much as we have without the generous support from a number of insurers, clients, local businesses and individuals that donated raffle prizes and auction items and we would like to thank all of them.
