Barrie Etchells
Managing Director
Founding shareholder and Managing Director, Barrie has spent the whole of his working life in the insurance industry taking him from life assurance to general insurance. Prior to forming Belmont he headed up the development and marketing divisions of a large national broker.
An Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Chartered Insurance Broker, Barrie has been in the insurance industry since 1960, resulting in extensive knowledge and experience all of which is channelled into the management and development of a company and culture that puts client interests at the forefront.

David Hinton
Deputy Managing Director
Since starting in the insurance industry in 1974, David has been focussed on client service. After working for a small independent broker specialising in the transportation sector David moved to Bain Clarkson (now Aon) before joining Barrie at Belmont in the company’s formative year. As an Account Executive and now Deputy MD, David has continuously retained responsibility for the advice given to major clients in the Transport, Construction, Servicing and Manufacturing sectors. David has played a significant role in the development of both our niche sector experience and the development of our hands on client service approach. David’s responsibilities for our commercial insurance activities and insurance market relationships run along side the continuing service and advice given to key areas such as Passenger Transport and Renewable Energy.

Mark Gamble
Financial Director
Mark’s extensive financial experience first came to the insurance industry when he joined SCOR in 1987 before going on to work with Anglo American and the Zurich. Working with Belmont since 1999, Mark played an important role in our business strategy including helping us to execute the acquisition of successful Kent based broker Bishops in 2004.

Alison Etchells
Director
Graduating from Southampton in 1983 Alison entered the Life Assurance arena with Royal Life before moving on in 1987 to work for a firm of solicitors. Joining Belmont the year after the company was founded, Alison developed from the role of an advisor through to taking responsibility for our Financial Services and Employee Benefits proposition. Having successfully developed a team and service proposition that provides a wide variety of financial service and personal protection advice, Alison’s role within the company widened to include spearheading professional standards as our Compliance Officer and the development of our skilled workforce as Director of Human Resources.

Mark Bunbury
Director
Having worked on major commercial clients before spending time working for a specialist broker in London at Bain Clarkson (Aon), Mark joined Belmont in 1996. Mark’s continued involvement and contribution towards the development of our client service offering, particularly in the Passenger Transport sector, has seen success in his area of the business continue, marked in 2007 by his appointment as a full director within Belmont. Beyond providing bespoke solutions to a wide variety of clients with varying business needs, Mark is also responsible for the management and ongoing development of our proactive claims proposition both in terms of systems and in-depth claims advice.

Phil White
Director
Having already spent 16 years working in the insurance industry starting with the Norwich Union in 1979, Phil joined Belmont in 1995 and subsequently assisted in the development of our client service proposition. With an in-depth knowledge of the Passenger Transport sector, Phil has now taken responsibility for our continuing development and relationships within this niche industry. Working with key partners such as the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) to whom we are the approved insurance partner, Phil continues to use his experience and knowledge to develop wider solutions for a greater number of companies within the UK Passenger Transport sector.

After spending 16 years with a major multinational broker as both Account Executive and Service Director, David joined Belmont in 2005 and is responsible for the development and delivery of our Sales and Marketing strategy across the various disciplines within our business. In each case looking for new ways to bring Belmont solutions to existing and potential clients.
An Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Insurance Broker, David reinforces our commitment to developing wider risk and insurance solutions for our clients.
